ATTENTION: Are you a Spotify User? Spotify disabled on Mycroft

Nope, they’ve been completely unresponsive :slightly_frowning_face:

Currently thinking through our options for other platforms, but we’ll keep trying with Spotify as we know it’s a very popular option.

One of the things I find unusual here is that Stanford’s OVAL / Genie project appears to have a Spotify Skill - and that hasn’t been disabled. If they’re going to disable voice assistants, they should at least be consistent about it.

By following the steps in there[1], I’ve been able to use Spotify with Mycroft.

Any update since November? Or do we all need to yell at Spotify?

You can create your own API and use it. The steps are explained at one of the issues at github.

Other the that: yep start yelling, or perhaps riot because of it. Appears to be trendy in our country🤦‍♂️

I have just started using Mycroft smart speaker. Why Spotify disabled API access for Mycroft? I don’t know how to create my own API. For now, I can only use AudKit Spotify music downloader to get Spotify downloads then stream them to my Mycroft speaker. Is there any better solution to access the Spotify library?
