The vlc error is expected (it tries to load an optional audio backend but fails if libvlc isn’t installed) and isn’t important.

From what I can see here there is no issue with the download (failing architecture check or other) so there are two options:
either it doesn’t recognize that the device is connected to a subscriber account or there is some problem with the downloaded executable.

Check if the /opt/mycroft/voices/mimic_tn file exists and if it does trigger a re-download by deleting it
rm -rf /opt/mycroft/voices/mimic_tn and restart your device.

Hi there
I’ve deleted mimic_tn and it has been re-downloaded, as you suggested but mycroft still use the default robotic voice.
I’ve fixed the vlc lib error even if it is not related to my current issue, and at this stage on the event logs I have just one error on mycroft-enclosure-client.log file:

Ok, I noticed something weird on picroft.

Can you check the content of /etc/mycroft/mycroft.conf and /home/mycroft/mycroft.conf and see if those override any tts settings?

If it’s overriding the voice setting this would be a cause for this issue.

/Åke

You can remove the line

 "voice": "ap",

from /etc/mycroft/mycroft.conf and reboot to get the subscriber voice to work. I’ve opened an issue on the enclosure-picroft repository: https://github.com/MycroftAI/enclosure-picroft/issues/49

Hi Åke,

I’ve removed the line “voice”: “ap”, in mycroft.conf file and now everything is working fine.

Thanks a million for your help.

No problems, glad to help!

Thank you for noticing so we can fix this.

Good day. I subscribe to premium user and I try to change the voice to Amy. Wait for 30 minutes and restart the RPI. But I still get the default robotic voice in picroft. I try the solution you gave above but nothing works.

Hi @causpaus I guess it’s a picroft unit.

Can you post your /var/logs/mycroft-audio.log /etc/mycroft/mycroft.conf and /home/mycroft/.mycroft/mycroft.conf somewhere like www.hastebin.com so I can do some more debugging.

/Åke

Sir this my log file output. I hope it helps.

Sir @forslund i fix it already. Thanks for the help.

Hmm, that is weird.

It looks almost like the device isn’t paired. At the very least there is trouble fetching the configuration due to an access denied error.

Can you operate the device normally, use voice commands and get the correct time? If you ask it what is your location what does it reply?

Edit: Ok I see you found the issue. Can you tell us what it was to help others?

I expecting it’s already fix. The feminine voice is already working. One problem arise again is the wake up call. The wake up call is not working. The microphone is already good. I’m figuring out again what happen.

After I change to the voice female, the mic is not working. But when I check it. The mic is connected properly to RPI.

In the CLI do you see the microphone level bars move in the lower right corner of the screen?

Yes. I notice the microphone level. I try to reinstall the picroft image using etcher and get back all to default. My first re-installation the feminine voice is connected but my microphone is disable. But by the time I checked the connection of mic in RPI everything is good. I try to figuring out what happend but no luck. I have no choice but to reinstall again the picroft. My second re-installation using etcher. I install it succesfully and the microphone is working and the wake up call is working also but when I try to ask some skills like “what time is it”? many times. It seems is not working. I check the CLI when I try to ask again, the skill execution is not appearing. I try to type using keyboard some skill and it’s working. But when I speak some skill It’s not working. I hope you help me because I need for my project. Thanks

Additional, in my second installation the feminine voice is now working. The problem is the skill is not working thru voice input but when I type some skills on CLI the skills are working

Edit : I try to change the STT and TTS from it’s default. I change it to wit.ai STT and google for TTS. It seems working now.

We had some server issues earlier today, affecting the STT so it might have been that.

Ahh. I see. I hope it already fix. I just update if there’s a problem. Thanks for the help.

Good evening, I had a similar thing happening here. The RPi that I used to install Apmy’s voice initially gave sound, but mic didn’t work. By now (after update) no sound, no mic only answers typed commands in the CLI.

Any hint is welcome.

Bill

Thanks @william.stassen for reporting this, we have several reports of this issue on 18.02b version. Are you able to confirm for me:

  • Picroft on RPi3
  • Version 18.02
  • Microphone: which microphone are you using?
  • Boots OK
  • Pairs OK
  • Listens to Wake Word
  • Does not respond to commands
