PiCroft Volume Very Low

This forum has been incredibly useful for getting my PiCroft up and running, so many thanks for that! Now that things seems to be working ok, I’m trying to tweak some of the things that could be better. The main thing right now seems to be the speaker volume is quite low. I’ve set the volume to the max using the volume skill but it’s still fairly quiet. I’m using the following hardware:

KEYESTUDIO ReSpeaker 2-Mic Pi HAT V1.0

CQRobot Speaker 3 Watt 4 Ohm JST-PH2.0 Interface

Even though the speaker itself is quite small, I feel like it should be able to put out more sound than it does. Is there any way to boost the gain/output through the mycroft config somehow?

there is another topic that has more discussion around quiet audio from picroft. I found my solution there:

it is possible you need to manually adjust the output volume using alsamixer
