How long to wait for mycroft-answers?

Hey at all,

yesterday i setup mycroft on a debian-vm for testing. If successfully I’m planing to use one of the new Raspberry Pi 4 as base. Is it normal that I have to wait circa 30 seconds for an audio-answer of a simple question?

Example-Question 1: Hey Mycroft, what date is tomorrow?
Time between finished my question and spoken words showing in CLI: 8 seconds
Time between question showed in CLI and answer showing in CLI: 7 seconds
Time between showed answer in CLI and audio output: 26 seconds
Total time: 41 seconds

Example-Question 2: Hey Mycroft, how is the weather in Munich?
Time between finished my question and spoken words showing in CLI: 6 seconds
Time between question showed in CLI and answer showing in CLI: 11 seconds
Time between showed answer in CLI and audio output: 31 seconds
Total time: 48 seconds

Example-Question 3: Hey Mycroft, tell me a joke.
Time between finished my question and spoken words showing in CLI: 7 seconds
Time between question showed in CLI and answer showing in CLI: <1 seconds
Time between showed answer in CLI and audio output: 26 seconds
Total time: 34 seconds

Maybe there is something I’m doing wrong here? In my opinion it takes too long. Especially the long latency between the displayed answer in the CLI and the audio output.

Time on pi3+ (not picroft, but rasbian stretch lite base with git clone install). Time from spoken till start of response.

Question 1: 4 seconds
Question 2: 5 seconds
Question 3: 4 seconds

Hope that helps

Hey lordsiris,

yes. That will help. But I’m wondering why it take soooo long time for me. I will test it with a non-virtual linux setup .

My current Setup:
Host: Windows 10 Pro x64 (1809)
Hypervisor: Virtualbox 6.0.8 r130520
VM-Settings: 4 GB RAM, PIIX3, ICH AC97 Audio,
VM-OS: Debian 9 (Stretch, x64) Desktop-Mode
Mycroft installed via: Git-Clone, dev_setup.sh

Thanks guys.

The problem can be internet speed. there is a delay problem at low connection speeds.
